Earlier, Apple use to have two types of gift cards: an iTunes card and an Apple Store card. The iTunes card was for purchases in the App Store, iTunes Store and/or to increase your iCloud storage. The Apple Store card was used on purchases made in the company’s retail or online stores.
But Apple has made everything easier by launching the new Apple Gift Card. This gift card combines both the iTunes and Apple Store gift card.
The Apple Gift Card can be used for the App Store, subscriptions or other digital goods as well as physical items from the Apple Store or website.
If you receive an Apple Gift Card, you can add the funds from it to your Apple Account Balance. That’s valid for “products, accessories, apps, games, music, movies, TV shows, iCloud, and more,” according to Apple’s website. App Store & iTunes gift cards are now redeemable towards your Apple Account Balance too.
The Apple Gift Card has a fresh look with several designs available based on the company’s logo against a white background. There are eight designs for the digital card and five for the physical card. The gift card is on sale at the company’s website and you can load between $25 to $2000 on a single card. You will also have the choice of sending a physical or digital card to the recipient.
The Apple Store and the iTunes cards continue to be valid as forms of payment but the new gift card has been introduced to combines the functions of the existing cards. However, Apple appears to have removed the option to buy the older cards in its website.
Currently, the Apple Gift Card is exclusive to the U.S. the gift card will be available through Amazon, Best Buy, Target and Walmart. But it’d be a surprise if the company opted to not make the gift card available to other countries as well.
